NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TO THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF ROANOKE, ROANOKE COUNTY, FRANKLIN COUNTY, BOTETOURT COUNTY AND OTHERS

The Board of Directors of the Western Virginia Water Authority (the “Authority”) will hold a public hearing on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 5:30 p.m., in the Board Room on the Second Floor in the Authority’s Administration Building (Coulter Building), 601 South Jefferson Street, Roanoke, Virginia

Rate Schedule for Monthly Water Base Charges in the City of Roanoke, Counties of Roanoke and Botetourt and Monthly Sewer Base Charges in the City of Roanoke and Counties of Roanoke, Franklin and Botetourt

For bills rendered beginning on January 1, 2022 the rates are as follows:

For Botetourt County water volume charges, the Authority is proposing a decrease from $4.75 to $4.00 for tier one, $5.50 to $4.85 for tier two and $7.00 to $5.75 for tier three.

For sewer volume charges, the Authority is proposing a $0.45 increase to the tier one and $0.20 increase to tier two rates for the customers in the City of Roanoke and Counties of Roanoke and Botetourt. The tier one rate will increase from $3.75 to $4.20 and the tier two rate will increase from $3.70 to $3.90.

For sewer volume charges, the Authority is proposing a tier two rate of $3.90 per 1,000 gallons effective for all flow after 5,000 gallons for customers in the County of Franklin.

An increase will be considered for septic tank disposal fees from $44.75 per 1,000 gallons to $46.15 per 1,000 gallons. Grease trap waste fees will increase from $60.00 per 1,000 gallons to $62.00 per 1,000 gallons.

The fire service fees are being considered for an increase per meter size.

If the public hearing is unable to be held on June 17, the alternative date will be June 24, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.
