US 220 Speed Limit to be Reduced Near Eagle Rock

ROUTE 220 SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS IN EAGLE ROCK are underway. Flagging operations will be in place on Route 220, north and southbound lanes between Eagle Rock and Iron Gate between the hours of 7 am until 7:30 pm. Work is estimated to be completed Fall 2021.

Beginning next week, the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph. Signage notifying the traveling public that they are approaching the reduced speed limit zones will be posted for the duration of the reduced speed limit is in effect. The following speed limit reductions will be in place July 30:

 From Eagle Rock Traveling North:

A 45 MPH speed limit will be established on Route 220 approximately 0.9 miles north of Route 622 (Prices Bluff Road). The reduced speed limit zone is approximately 1.1 miles and ends approximately 0.7 miles north of the southern intersection of Route 722 (Chatham Road).

After traveling 3.3 miles north, a second 45 MPH speed limit will be established on Route 220 just north of the intersection with Route 633 (Glen Wilton Road). The reduced speed limit zone is approximately 1.0 mile and ends in the existing speed limit reduction approaching Iron Gate.

 From Iron Gate Traveling South:

The 45 MPH speed limit will be extended from the existing 45 MPH speed zone departing Iron Gate and will end just north of the intersection with Route 633 (Glen Wilton Road).

After traveling approximately 3.3 miles south, a 45 MPH speed limit will be established on Route 220 approximately 1.8 miles south of Route 696 (Locust Bottom Road). The reduced speed limit zone is approximately 1.1 miles and ends approximately 0.3 miles south of the southern intersection of Route 722 (Chatham Road).
