Botetourt's Shane Figgins is RRHBA Public Employee of the Year
The Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association, Inc. (RRHBA) has named Botetourt County Combination Inspector Shane Figgins (Botetourt County),as the Association’s 2013 Public Employee of the Year.
Shane was recognized for his knowledge of the building codes and his compassion to help wherever he can to ensure the success of projects. 2013 RRHBA President Pete McKnight (Blue Ridge) stated, “While strictly enforcing the code, Shane does so in a manner of serving the client to the best of his ability. Among the reasons given for Shane’s nomination were a variety of ‘everyday’ ways he readily provides assistance to the housing and construction industry – including his willingness to listen to others’ concerns and ideas. He is indeed a team player, and we thank him for all that he does for our industry and community.”
This award is open to employees who work within the jurisdictions served by RRHBA (Counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Roanoke; Cities of Roanoke & Salem; and related towns). Nominations are made by members of the RRHBA Board of Directors.
The criteria is as follows: (1) the employee must be directly involved in the control, development, supervision, or production of housing and/or construction, (2) in the opinion of the RRHBA Awards Committee, be a person who has, within the limits of his or her responsibility, provided significant assistance to the housing and/or construction industry, and (3) this individual should be in the planning, public works, zoning, code enforcement, engineering, or inspection department of the jurisdiction involved, although other employees would not be excluded from consideration, if appropriate. Elected officials are excluded.
The RRHBA is a non-profit, professional trade organization with more than 300 member firms dedicated to being the respected voice of the residential and commercial building industry.
