New Voter ID Requirements


Fincastle, VA — The Botetourt County Electoral Board and Registrar are announcing that a photo ID is required for voting effective July 1, 2014. Voters must present one of the following acceptable forms of identification when voting in future elections:

  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License
  • DMV-issued photo identification card
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Valid employee photo identification card
  • Other government-issued photo identification card
  • Valid college or university student photo identification card (issuer must be an institution of higher education located in Virginia)

If you do not have an acceptable form of photo identification, please contact the Botetourt County Voter Registration & Elections Office for a free photo ID for voting purposes only. Call 473-8235 or stop by the office at 2 East Main St. in Downtown Fincastle. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily except for weekends and holidays.
