Botetourt Sports Complex 2015 Event Schedule Released

Troutville, VA – The Botetourt Sports Complex has released its event calendar for the upcoming 2015 season. Twenty-four sporting events are planned this year with the season officially beginning March 13 and concluding October 18. This year’s events range from Botetourt‘s own local youth recreational and high school teams to numerous regional and national championship events for youth baseball, youth fast-pitch and adult slow-pitch softball.

The Sports Complex has hosted over 190 tournaments and has welcomed nearly 150,000 visitors to Botetourt County since opening in June 2007. With the events planned for 2015, the Complex anticipates another 20,000 visitors and teams representing 30 different states while also providing frequent opportunities for local residents to participate and utilize the facility.

The 2015 schedule is highlighted by the annual Military Appreciation Tournament. In addition to the usual Division I schools (JMU, LU, RU, UVA, VT), this year’s event will feature the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST). The WWAST has veterans and active-duty servicemen who have each lost some part of his arm or leg while serving his country. The team travels the country to educate and inspire the public with the theme “life without limbs is limitless”. This will be a rare and inspiring opportunity. Also new this year is the Black American Super NIT and the Complex’s first 18U Gold Tournament.

A number of exciting events return to the complex in 2015 including the Botetourt Bash Invitational Softball Tournament co-hosted by Lord Botetourt and James River High Schools, the National Christian College World Series, the ISF Senior World Cup, and the ASA/USA Heartland College Showcase Series.

“Going into our 9th season, I am amazed that we continue excelling at the highest level. Our 2015 schedule contains events that showcase Botetourt and contribute significantly to our economy through traveling patrons.” says Jim Farmer, Sports Complex Manager. “Sports-related tourism continues to be big business nationwide, and we are humbled to attract such a quality schedule to Botetourt County.”
