Community Workshop for Exit 150/Gateway Center

Fincastle, VA – Botetourt County and RKG Associates, Inc. will be hosting a community workshop regarding the ongoing Exit 150 Economic Feasibility and Land Use Study. The workshop will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the Greenfield Education and Training Center in Daleville. The public is invited to participate in the workshop in order to provide feedback to the County and the consultants concerning the future of the Exit 150/Gateway Center area.

The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. and participants are encouraged to stay for the full workshop. During the workshop, representatives from RKG Associates, Inc. will lead the group through a series of interactive exercises designed to build a future community vision of the Gateway Center area. All of the information gathered will be incorporated into RKG Associates, Inc.’s final report.

In the spring of 2015, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) awarded a contract for the construction of the I-81 Exit 150 Improvement Project, involving a substantial redesign of the Gateway Center area. Coinciding with this project, RKG Associates, Inc. was hired to conduct an economic feasibility and land use study of the area in order to help encourage and guide future development. A final report of the study with recommendations is anticipated in fall 2015. VDOT’s improvement project is anticipated to be completed in fall 2017.
