Arkay Packaging Announces Expansion in Botetourt

Fincastle, VA – Today, the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors announced an expansion of a long-time county manufacturer, Arkay Packaging. Located in EastPark Business Park, Arkay plans to invest $11 million to expand its Botetourt operation and to add 50 new jobs. Arkay has been operating in Botetourt County since 1996. Today’s announcement represents the company’s fourth major expansion.
“Botetourt and Arkay have enjoyed a strong and reliable partnership for 20 years,” said Botetourt County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Leffel. “We welcome this expansion as an affirmation of Botetourt County as great place for business and a re-affirmation of our long-term mutual commitment to support one another’s success.”
Arkay is a premier example of advanced manufacturing and has been continuously innovating throughout its more than 90 year history. The company provides global cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies with highly creative, cost-effective and eco-friendly packaging solutions using cutting-edge technologies and a palette of special effects. As a result, Arkay stands as one example of the diverse manufacturing businesses in Botetourt County.
“In my short time in the County, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about all of the different industries in Botetourt,” said County Administrator Gary Larrowe. “Botetourt is blessed with many thriving companies, and today’s announcement of Arkay’s expansion is just another proof of Botetourt County as an ideal location for today’s most advanced and competitive manufacturers.”
Arkay’s expansion comes as other Botetourt companies have also announced or planned expansions. Dynax America Corporation, also located in EastPark, is currently constructing its latest expansion, and Altec Inc., located in the Botetourt Center at Greenfield, recently acquired additional land for a future expansion.
“We are very proud of the long-term partnerships we enjoy with our businesses,” said Deputy County Administrator David Moorman. “This expansion is a testimony to the kind of partnership we seek to have with every business.”
